Jesse Jackson #1 Weapon In Stopping Foreclosure

I’ve written about this before but it is important that people stand up for their rights and reach out for resources and get help. Advocate for your self by finding an advocate and don’t be to embarrassed about your situation to ask for help. You will feel like you have even less personal dignity if you end up homeless because you didn’t.

One way of doing that is contacting celebrities or politicians that will make a phone call or write a letter on your behalf. The Toledo Blade wrote this article about the visit of Jesse Jackson to Toledo in an effort to organize groups to advocate for homeowners. In it Jesse Jackson is talks with a Kim Bowers who is losing her home to foreclosure and her lender was not helping her at all.

Jesse Jackson made one call and the next day she had immediate relief. Obviously not everyone has Jesse Jackson to make a call for you but you could always write him a letter and ask. You have any number of local elected officials that would like you to think they actually care and would be willing to write a letter or make a call on your behalf. U.S. Congressmen, State Reps, Mayors, City Council and other officials all get heard in ways the us little people might not. There calls will often get routed to a special department that is designed to keep public relations nightmares from happening. The same is true with journalists as well. I have written previously that representatives of News Outlets can make a difference in your mortgage.  Lenders want to avoid a public relations nightmares that could cause court action and legislative action against them and cause them to pay out large summs in their defense.
